Employment
Job Title preservationist Length of Employment seven years Housing a two bed bachelorette pad, no roommate. she lucked out after the divorce that something was available. Recruitment she was a professor of history at ucl whose favourite example of misinterpretation to silence movements was that of emmett orson. it was only through her research that she managed to almost blow the cover of familiar time wrangler who kept popping up throughout history, and not just through papers. before she could publish her own paper on it, the agency picked her up and offered her an opportunity. Work-related Skills historical anomaly detection: she has a phd in global history focusing on the 20th century and can identify discrepancies in timelines, documents, and narratives; those subtle cracks in history where something doesn't quite add up. sometimes it's vibes alone. archivism, data mining, critical thinking and operational strategy. she took like a duck to water with time travel theory. has an extremely high level interpersonal influence: she’s a people person and good at figuring out what people are thinking.
Personality
Positives + charismatic + resourceful + empathetic
Neutrals = protective = curious = maximalist
Negatives - avoidant - reckless - petty
toni is a maximalist in style and a minimalist in confessionals; dripping in enamel pins, layered rings, and strong opinions. the vibe is roughly “punk archivist meets niche podcast host,”; she makes a mean charcuterie board, brews her own beer, and can win any argument using a pop culture reference, a historical footnote, and one (1) smug look. her emotional literacy extends to everyone but herself; she is both pathologically avoidant and in complete denial of this and at thirty six, this doesn’t seem like something she’s fixing. but on the other hand she is equal parts cool aunt who has everything covered and a disaster waiting to happen; so at the very least she keeps people entertained.
History
Family francesca fausti. tailor - mother unknown father. tess larsen. innovator. ex wife. kind of. it’s very confusing for everyone.
  • born in east hanover, new jersey, toni was raised by her single mother, a loving, fiercely independent italian-american tailor who ran her own shop out of their home. there was no father in the picture - frankie never explained, and toni honestly never asked. their home was always full of noise: old jazz, boiling water, neighborhood gossip, fabric shears and frustrated curses at a dodgy seam. toni grew up half in the workshop and half in the local public library, growing a deep affection for history.
  • toni earned a scholarship to the university of chicago, where she completed both her undergraduate and master’s degrees in predictably, history. she spent most of her undergrad life in libraries, diy punk gigs, late-night diners, and hosting niche-themed movie nights in her tiny dorm room during undergrad when she was too broke to do anything else. her master’s thesis on postwar technological reconstruction and underground information networks was published in a minor academic journal, earning her early recognition. but she wanted something new, so she applied to get her PhD in london; ucl accepted her and she packed up her life into a suitcase.
  • so toni moved to london and specialised in 20th century history with a specific interest in how undocumented or erased movements shaped global outcomes; things like resistance networks, displaced archives, and the bureaucratic ghost trails of failed revolutions. she learned quickly and loved london, so applied for teaching roles at the end of her phd. thankfully, she got the job and became a popular professor amongst the undergraduates.
  • she continued with her research in her own time and it was while cross-referencing cold war documents in the national archives that she noticed a recurring face - someone supposedly active in 1949 and then again, in 1982, same age. not only that; she knew him specifically from the papers of his that she hyperfixated in back in the late nineteenth century. so she kept digging, until she established the only possible explanation: time travel. her notes and the first proposal for a paper at an academic conference set off alarms in a system she didn’t know she’d tripped. two polite but unsettling individuals showed up outside her flat soon after, who proceeded to offer her the job of a lifetime.
  • toni was, in fact, impulsive enough to say yes to mystery without a backup plan. she was brought in as an intern, briefed, tested, and she adapted quickly, if a little excitedly. at first, it was the thrill of knowing she’d been right but over time, she found herself genuinely invested in keeping the timeline stable, not for the british government, but because history deserved better than manipulation without accountability. after a year, she chose to become a preservationist, or as toni calls it: a glorified time janitor. she’s never been happier.
  • Notes/Trivia
    • hosts a monthly board game night for tea colleagues.
    • divorced once in the messiest workplace break-up of all time. everyone knew it was happening. it’s fine now.
    • bisexual in theory, a rival to shane from the l word in practice.
    • she collects lightsabers, magic: the gathering cards and guitars. she is also running out of space for them but doesn’t want to move because she’d have roommates again and then decorating is hard.
    • leo sun, aquarius moon, saggitarius rising. equal parts showstopper, emotional cipher, and charismatic agent of chaos.
